Current Scenario in Addressing Climate Change in Nepal

Climate Change in Nepal has been taken as both opportunity and threats in Nepal. Government bodies and general public were quite far from addressing to possible threats that were likely to cause by the climate change in Nepal. However, in recent years government has been actively participated in international negotiation and some research and development projects. In the other hand, hundreds of Non Governmental Organization (NGO) are actively participating in creating awareness among the public via research, advocacy and capacity development of the laymen. Government of Nepal has created ministry of environment and department of environment recently which shows government of Nepal is now concern about the fact of climate change. The credit of awakening government directly goes to international organizations like WWF, UNEP, UNESCO and Non governmental organization in center and local level of the country.  In the other hand, some of the NGOs are taking this as an opportunity of increasing their wealth rather than servicing the public. They love to make their publicity rather than service. They have taken the advantage of weak and unstable government. If this could be controlled, we can hope for visible change in few years.
